Concrete Genie (PS4): COMPLETED!

I thought this game was going to be about painting murals on walls, which then come to life. And, for a while, it is. You paint genies who can help you move objects, activate power or open doors, and you can paint random stuff on most vertical surfaces. However, it’s a lot darker than that and the first third of the game involves a lot of hiding from some not very nice bullies. There’s quite a bit of Assassin’s Creed …

My CGC Entries

Over the years, I’ve entered a few games into the comp.sys.sinclair Crap Games Competition myself. Never won (or should that be lost?) mind. Perhaps my games were too good? Read below for the actual games, or skip over to the last page to play them! Octopus Lite (1999) This is my Speccy conversion of an old Nintendo Game and Watch game called (spookily) Octopus. The idea is to guide your little man down to the treasure, nab it and return …

Fillum review: Be Kind Rewind (2007)

I was absolutely convinced this film came out this year, but Virgin On Demand says 2007. Not that it matters at all, it just seems too long ago. Anyway. Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def) are left in charge of a video rental shop while the owner goes on a recon mission to figure out how to make more money in order to save the building the shop is in from demolition. While he’s away, a freak accident magnetically …

Gary Wilmott

Since moving my blog over to WordPress (more thoughts on that at a later date), I’ve been able to check my blog access logs in more detail than previously.  This includes search terms that have led people here. Bizarrely, one of those terms that keeps cropping up is “Gary Wilmott”.  Of course, it’s because of this post I made some time ago, but it still freaks me out that so many people are searching for him. If you’re reading this, …

Bioshock (360)

With the bomb in the core, Ryan decided it was best to just completely destroy Rapture. Obviously. Not only that, but when I found him, he made me kill him. Very odd. Then… a big fat spoiler. Which makes the next bit somewhat hard to mention, really. I got out of Ryan’s office, and met up with Tenenbaum and all the Little Sisters. More revelations occurred, and it now seems that Fontaine (who isn’t dead after all) is the guy …

Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

Erk. There was a big giant thing that could rip up trees and pound my face! I had no idea how to kill it, and hiding in the nearby huts to shoot at it was a bad idea, as it just pounded through the roof and splatted me. A wolf did appear to help, seemingly paying me back for saving it from a trap near the start of the game, but all it could do was bark at it. Instead …

I’ve just entered the Twilight Zone

There I am, having a conversation with someone on IRC about them knowing someone called Andy who works in IT in a high school, then I mention that I’m one, and I know three others and one in IT at a university: [18:12] deKay: *another* Andy that works in a local high school?[18:12] deKay: Preposterous[18:12] rachel|laptop: yes, my friend andy that works as an IT tech in the local high school, freaky isn’t it?[18:12] rachel|laptop: almost beyond belief[18:12] deKay: 🙂[18:12] …

Guitar Hero II (360)

It seems I gained another achievement today, for buying all the guitar finishes. Again, I haven’t actually bought them all, but I got the achievement anyway. Also tried a few of the “bought” bonus tracks, including Trogdor (which was a bit bloody hard). Played through some of the existing tracks as well, to bump my stars and scores up a little. Psychobilly Freakout is still impossible, however.

Guitar Hero II (360)

With all the tracks on Medium now done, it was time to start going for 5 Star rankings on them all, and bump myself up the leaderboards a little. In fact, there’s not much bumping up the leaderboards I can do, on my friends list at least – I’m first, second or third for almost every track, and am second overall for the career. Aces! Anyway. I have at least the first 24 (of 48) tracks now 5 Star ranked, …

Guitar Hero II (360): COMPLETED!

In that, I’ve reached the end of Medium. Overall, it seems waaaaay easier than the first game, as I didn’t fail a single track. A few at the end (Psychobilly Freakout for one) are bloody difficult, but I have at least 3 stars on every track. I then realised I hadn’t done the training, so did that to learn how to do hammer-ons and pull-offs – I can’t quite get the hang of them, but I think I’ll get there. …

Super Mario World (Wii)

New Virtual Console Game Day! Yaay! Mind you, I haven’t really played Mario Kart 64 much after buying that last week, but that’s mainly because The Castlevania has stolen my brains. So I downloaded Super Mario World, and tried very hard to get used to the “proper” way of holding the pad (I have this freaky way of doing it with the SNES pad and the classic controller for the Wii isn’t quite right). I think I may have it …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Again, Bluebear was after modern furniture. There’s no space left in her house, though. My wife came over to visit, bringing a prism shirt for me to give to Rodeo, but Rodeo wouldn’t ask me for one! Gah! Instead, he kept telling me he loves me, and wanted to hear me tell him I loved him too. The freak. Not much else was happening in Cheese today. Kabuki is trying to move out again – that’s the third or fourth …
